Below is a story about a North Korean man born inside a North Korean political prison camp in 1982. He escaped North Korea in 2005 by crossing the Chinese border. He finally made it to South Korea, and he shares his life's story. It gives us a glimpse of the lives of North Korean political prisoners. It is the most heart-breaking story I've ever read. What's worse and what continues to break my heart is that this isn't something that happened 60 years ago like the holocaust, but rather something that has been happening many times each day in North Korea since 60 years ago. These things are happening right now, even today, in this very moment. I highly recommend you to read this story, and think about how lucky we are, and how silly and spoiled we may be in our daily attitude towards life. And maybe how we may be able to solve this global issue.
Here is the full article. (I Was a Political Prisoner at Birth in North Korea)
He is two years older than me. He was born 50 miles north of where I was born. Yet, we have lived completely different kind of lives. After I read this story, I looked more into the lives of North Koreans, and found these very recent footages smuggled out from North Korea
